Aveeno Active Naturals Living Color - Color Preserving Shampoo & Conditioner - My Highest Self

Aveeno Active Naturals Living Color – Color Preserving Shampoo & Conditioner

About 4 weeks ago I treated myself to a much-needed haircut and felt almost whole again.  Do you ever grow out your hair, not knowing what you are going to do with it, and then never really figure out what to do with it?  Yep, that’s what I did.  I grew out my hair for quite a few months and it was a bit past my shoulders.  My hair grows fast and I didn’t know what to do with it.  I had no style and NO COLOR since I hadn’t dyed my hair in a few months either.  Anyway, after I got all of my hair cut off and felt a bit more like myself, I dyed my hair at home with my favorite Feria Power Reds shade.  Only then did I feel like my real  self with a short, cute haircut and bright burgundy red hair!

That same day, I started using Aveeno* Active Naturals Living Color Color Preserving Shampoo & Conditioner (for medium to thick hair).  Previously, after dying my hair I would typically only shampoo every other day and use conditioner every day in order to keep my color from fading in an instant.  Reds especially have a tendency to fade fast with shampoos.  I decided to give these two products a real test and use them every day.  According to Aveeno this shampoo and conditioner will “keep your color truer, longer and is scientifically shown to smooth the cuticle to lock in color.  Living Color* conditioner contains UV protection which helps prevent color fading.”  The shampoo is “scientifically shown to help preserve color boldness for up to 40 washes.”

I used the formula for medium to thick hair and can now say that the shampoo is capable of cleaning my hair without stripping the color!  It has a fresh scent, doesn’t dry the hair and preserves the shine.  The conditioner has the same fresh garden scent, and did give me soft hair that didn’t feel weighed down.  Some conditioners just coat your hair and making it difficult to style afterwards.  This is a lightweight conditioner that definitely brought on the moisture and the UV protection really works.  After at least 30 washes, my color has the same brightness that I started with.  No small feat for the Power Red shade that I have made my favorite.

Overall, Aveeno* Active Naturals Living Color really worked for me and has saved my dye job for these past 4 weeks!  So, I’m still a big fan of the Aveeno brand all around, how about you?  Look for the Aveeno shampoo and conditioner, also in a formula for fine hair) at all your favorite stores for around $7.50 each.

Have you tried the Living Color shampoo and conditioner?  What do you use to keep your color from fading?
