Swatch & Review: Avon Kohl Eye Liner Pencil in Deep Violet - My Highest Self

Swatch & Review: Avon Kohl Eye Liner Pencil in Deep Violet

I’ve been a huge fan of all things Avon for the past year now. From their nail lacquers to mascaras to eyeshadows, I’m usually pleasantly surprised at the performance of their products. With that being said, the Kohl Eye Liner in Deep Violet was a serious miss in my book.

Deep Violet is absolutely beautiful, a deep plummy shade with fine sparkle particles. However it doesn’t apply evenly or smoothly at all. I was hoping for a creamy texture but the product was very stiff and skipped over my skin. Not only that, but it seemed to apply clumpy, even. The color would look thick and crumbly in some places and sheer in others.

Avon Kohl Eye Liner ReviewThe Avon Kohl Eye Liner has a smudger opposite the pencil end. It’s not spongey, as one would expect, but more of a rubber material. Although this feels a lot better than a sponge smudged in my opinion, it actually ends up erasing most of the product from your skin. After the first time using this I honestly thought maybe it was meant to be an eraser for mistakes because it just picked up all the product I put down.

The Avon Kohl Eye Liner would be best used without smudging and applied with a very light hand to avoid the crumbliness. I honestly think it’s more trouble than it’s worth, though! 5 shades, Avon.com, $7.00.

Product received from PR for editorial consideration, all opinions expressed are my own.

Have you tried the Kohl Eye Liners yet? If so, what did you think?
