How Our Family Treats Eczema - My Highest Self

How Our Family Treats Eczema

I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for AVEENO® Eczema Therapy. I received product samples as well as a promotional item to thank me for my participation. All content and thoughts are my own.

Most of our family has been blessed (cursed?) with sensitive skin and eczema flare-ups.  Ollie and Ruby get their sensitive skin from dad because all three of them have to take special care of their skin.  The kids typically get the red, rough patches on their elbows and behind the knees.  Ray deals with dry, sensitive skin due to eczema all year round with flare-ups happening in winter months.  Guess what? There is no cure for eczema, you can only treat the symptoms and try to avoid known triggers.  That means mom has to keep an eye on the products we use and stock the house with all the right remedies to keep their skin on the right track.  AVEENO® Eczema Therapy products have been a staple in our household since Ollie was a baby.  The soothing ACTIVE NATURALS Colloidal Oatmeal in these products targets the four symptoms of eczema:  dryness, irritation, roughness, and itch.  The products are hypo-allergenic and fragrance-free as well.

How to treat Babies with Eczema

I can distinctly remember trying AVEENO Baby Eczema Therapy Moisturizing Cream for the first time when Ollie was just a few months old.  He had dry, irritated skin with red patches on his cheeks, legs and arms.  The doctor told us he was dealing with eczema.  The AVEENO Baby Eczema Therapy Moisturizing Cream worked to soothe his little baby skin naturally.  It was such a relief to me as a mom and so soothing to baby.  I used it daily to calm his dry skin and heal up the dry patches.

The best treatments for Eczema

Now that Ollie is 8 and Ruby is 7, we use the AVEENO Eczema Therapy Moisturizing Cream daily to keep away the dry, irritated skin.  Ruby is more prone to the itchiness part of eczema so it aids in keeping the itch away for her.  She is also a real fan of the AVEENO Eczema Therapy Bath Treatment.  Made of 100% pure colloidal oatmeal, it provides relief from eczema flare-ups that we sometimes just can’t avoid.  In winter, they happen at least once just because of the extra element of cold and wind on the skin.  In those cases, we add the bath treatment to bath water to soothe the skin and it starts to work right away.  She always enjoys her “special oatmeal bath” and thinks of it like a little spa treatment!  Just like mom, she loves her beauty treatments :).  After 2 nights of AVEENO baths (plus daily use of the Moisturizing Cream, Ruby’s skin gets so much better.

Aveeno Eczema Therapy Bath Treatment Review

After introducing Ray to AVEENO Eczema Therapy products (and the AVEENO Skin Relief body wash) several years ago, it’s the only brand he has used since.  He was using a prescription cream back then and it really never did a good job with treating his eczema.  He always seemed to have a red, scaly patch of skin somewhere.  He knows (and sees) that AVEENO really works to keep his flare-ups at bay naturally and soothe any patches that typically show up in the colder months.

If you or someone in your family deals with eczema, try the AVEENO Eczema Therapy products.  They are all clinically shown to help soothe the symptoms of eczema.  The gentle, yet effective, products have been a part of our daily lives for many years!

Skin issues are the worst! That bath treatment is probably lovely, as I know oatmeal can be a great help.
