Swatch & Review: butter LONDON WINK Colour Mascara and WINK Cream Eyeshadow

butter LONDON has long been infamous for their beautiful nail lacquers. They have recently released their very first cosmetics collection, Rock Your Colour.   For the past week I’ve been playing around with a few of their newest releases: butter LONDON WINK Colour Mascara in Indigo Punk and Inky Six and butter LONDON WINK Cream Eyeshadow in Pistol Pink and Alabaster Glaze.

pistol pink cream eyeshadowbutter LONDON WINK Cream Eyeshadow comes in a clear tube, with a brush attached to the cap similar to a lipgloss applicator. I used the brush to get the product onto my eye, but ultimately used my fingers to blend the eyeshadow evenly over my lid.

butter london pistol pink reviewPistol Pink is a light pink that’s a perfect all-over-lid color for lazy days, but can also blend seamlessly with other shades.

Alabaster glaze swatchAlabaster Glaze is a milky white that can be used on its own, for a highlighting color, or a perfect brightening base.

These eyeshadows are crease-resistant, even when you leave out your eyelid primer. I wore Pistol Pink all day as an all-over lid color and came home to my shadow looking freshly applied after 8 hours. I also love that they set dry. Once blended, they don’t feel heavy, sticky, wet or thick. Their texture after setting is similar to a powder shadow, so they blend easily with shadows of different textures. Both colors have shimmer.

I’ve always wanted to experiment with colored mascara and luckily both of these colors make my eyes pop! The color is vibrant once layered, even on dark-colored lashes like mine.

butter london mascara review

I would say butter LONDON WINK Colour Mascara is purely for the color pop since it doesn’t do much for length or volume of lashes.  But even though it’s not as functional as it is fun, the wand still bugs me. The bristles are tightly packed and short, and it was really hard for me to get down to my roots and separate my lashes with it.   I wanted to coat every lash with the color, but because of the short bristles, I couldn’t get down to the root.  I wonder if I use a regular mascara to style my lashes, then apply this over it, if I would get more satisfactory results. Something to try!

The butter LONDON WINK Cream Eyeshadows were definitely my favorite out of the two products.  Find the Rock Your Colour collection at butterlondon.com, ULTA stores, and ULTA.com.
