Review: Dr. Jart Black Label Detox Pore Penetrator - My Highest Self

Review: Dr. Jart Black Label Detox Pore Penetrator

With my oily skin, blackheads have always been a problem for me.  While I have found a few GREAT pore clearing products (this one and this one) I still love to try new ones.  I have read a lot of great things about the Dr. Jart brand and that led me to believe Dr. Jart Black Label Detox Pore Penetrator would work wonders.  Hmmmm…..
Dr. Jart Pore Penetrator Review

Dr. Jart Pore Penetrator claims to be a “one-step treatment that helps reduce blackheads while controlling excess oil, leaving skin squeaky clean”.  The product contains Grapefruit Extract for exfoliating, Willow Bark to remove dead skin, Glycerin for moisturizing, Licorice Root for calming, Olive Oil for conditioning.  It is a gel-like consistency that has a sticky quality and comes in a pump.
Dr. Jart Pore Penetrator Skin SwatchI followed the package directions and applied 2 or 3 pumps to areas prone to blackheads: t-zone, chin, cheeks.  It has a warm feel to it as you apply and the scent is grapefruit.  I waited 10 minutes then massaged gently to loosen debris as instructed.  The product beads up on your skin when you do this.  I can feel the Olive Oil in this as I massaged.  I rinsed with warm water and was left with a residue on my skin.  My face was shiny/oily afterwards and stayed that way for the rest of the day!  I did not see any difference in my pores either.  I have used the Pore Penetrator a number of times now and have even tried washing my face afterwards even though it claims to be a “one-step treatment”.  I have tried using it in the morning and at night with no difference in my results.  I have seen no change in reducing blackheads.  What a disappointment!  Especially since I cashed out all of my Birchbox points to buy this product.

Overall, Dr. Jart Black Label Detox Pore Penetrator did not deliver on any of its claims for me.  I can not recommend this based on my experience but I’d love to hear if this worked for you!  Sephora or Birchbox Shop, $24

If you have tried this please let me know what your results were!

I know, right? I’m testing out a Murad product for blackheads now, I have high hopes!

Well that’s a bummer. I’ve had good luck with Dr. Jart Premium BB Cream SPF 45. I’ve wondered about the other products in the Dr. Jart line. I have dry skin so I won’t be trying the blackhead remover, but I would expect efficacy from that expensive product line. 🙁

I must admit I was thinking this would be some kind of miracle product but I did give it a fair try. I will still try other products because I have heard good things about the brand.
