Hair Adventures: Before and After Photos John Frieda Precision Foam Colour

I have been coloring my own hair since I was about 19 (I think).  I always found it fun, challenging and I just enjoy change in general.  Bonus:  You can do-it-yourself for a fraction of the salon price.  It’s the best when someone says “you look different every time I see you”.  It could be my motto:  Never the same person twice.  My most recent hair color is 3VR Deep Cherry Brown from John Frieda Precision Foam Colour.

If you color your hair at home, you are probably familiar with the process:  pour the color into the developer, shake that bottle like mad, squeeze and squirt it all over your head and hope for the best.  John Frieda Precision Foam is different than the rest.  You pour the color into the developer bottle, gently turn the bottle upside down three times to mix.  The foam is created by squeezing the bottle.

I found this hair color to be completely MESS-FREE!  Normally, I will have at least a few blobs of hair color on my shirt, bathroom sink, and floor afterwards.  With John Frieda, the foam color stayed on my head, no drips and no drops.  Besides being very simple to use and mess-free, the end result of this color is beautiful!  It covered all of my grays and comes with a nice conditioner for after-care.  What more can you ask for really?

I would definitely use John Frieda Precision Foam Colour again (probably in the next 4 weeks)!  You can find it in stores and online at these retailers for around $11.99.

Did you miss the last time I changed my hair?

Have you tried John Frieda yet?  Do you color your own hair at home?

I’m reading this post while I wait for my at-home hair color to process. I used Revlon though but would definitely consider this product in my next hair color.xo

Haha too funny!! I don’t think I’ve used Revlon color, you’ll have to let me know what you think if you try this one!

I actually used John Freida foam color for the first time last week, used the same color on my hair as well! I always dye my hair at home, I had been using a reflective auburn black color in another brand previously, but my friend loved John Freida so I decided to try it, though it’s a little bit pricier than I normally buy (of course, the friend that recommended it, usually spends even less on dye, but she thought it was worth it.) I was skeptical throughout the entire color process. I guess I’m so used to the heavy dye, the foam made me uneasy because I didn’t know if I was doing it right. It was virtually mess free, and washing out hair color usually takes me 30 minutes, the foam came out so much quicker!! The conditioner is AMAZING! Smells so good, and my hair actually felt healthier after dying it. I love the color and I’d definitely use this product again! The only thing that I think needs to be improved is, the hair color on the box is NOTHING like the description or the outcome; most are a little different, but all the browns looked blonde and the blacks look like my natural brown hair.

Hi Kathy! That’s awesome, I really love this shade! It was strange at first using the foam because it is so light and makes you wonder, will this work? I have to agree it is always so tough choosing the color from the box but I just go with my gut feeling! I’m open to what the outcome may be, I guess we all have to be to even attempt it at home, right? They do have a decent color selection, still hoping they will add even more. I just wish every store had all of the shades available, it seems only some stores have some shades.

I love John Frieda hair colour, I do find that it looks dark on application but washes up to the colour on the box after about 4 washes. I now use a lightish shade (dark golden blonde) as it isn’t too dark on application. (I have golden brown hair if I remember correctly, hasn’t been a natural colour for years lol). It means that I can avoid the build up of dark colour, seems to work and the greys look blonde

Hi Chrissie! You made me laugh because it’s hard to remember what my “natural” colour is too! Glad you found a way to cover greys and get nice color too.

I’d really like to try this one or the Frederic Fekkai color, but I have such thick hair that one box never does the trick…and I always miss some grays, plus my ends get darker than my roots. I don’t know…maybe I better stick with the salon!

I have very thick hair too and when my hair was long I always used two boxes of color. Now that my hair is above shoulder length the one box is MORE than enough. I think practice makes perfect with coloring your own hair, each time you’ll get better at it! It helps to really massage it in and think about getting color on every strand. It’s kind of therapeutic, I think you should give it another try!
