I know a full face of makeup isn’t everyone’s cup of tea in the hot summer months. However, I am the kind of girl that usually doesn’t go anywhere without putting on some foundation and concealer. (Thank you acne and acne scars.)
Unfortunately, a fully done up face + a sweltering 90° day = certain disaster or embarrassment for the makeup wearer. I do have a few higher end setting powders that I love, but luckily the items I am going to talk about today will help save your face and your wallet!
Hard Candy (the makeup brand sold exclusively at Walmart) has released a few new makeup enhancing items and the timing, being summer and all, couldn’t be better. There are 4 new products in the Hard Candy Fast & Fabulous line, and I have 2 of them to talk about today.
The Fast & Fabulous Translucent Finishing Powder is a “weightless finishing powder that provides an invisible way to set and extend makeup wear. This oil absorbing formula reduces shine while minimizing pores, lines and imperfections.”
I really like this powder and have been using it almost everyday since I got it! It provides a nice smooth matte finish without being too chalky or powdery. When I am done doing my makeup, I like to apply it all over with a big fluffy brush or even a very slightly damp beauty blender.
The Fast & Fabulous Makeup Setting Spray is a “weightless spray that locks in makeup for all day wear. You can spray it over foundation, blush, eye shadow or concealer to set your look. It lasts through all weather conditions without melting, cracking, fading or settling into fine lines.”
I am really not very well versed in the world of makeup setting sprays, so I can’t really compare it to others. However, it delivers a very fine mist that evaporates fairly quickly without making my makeup run or smear. It does have a bit of a strong scent which I am personally not too keen on, but it seems to work well when I am dealing with adverse weather or extra long days. The best way to apply a setting spray is in an X & T motion while holding the bottle about 8-10 inches from your face.
The best part about both of these new Hard Candy items? They are only $6 each! The Setting Powder is definitely a new favorite of mine and it rivals my more expensive brands! I am also quite interested in trying the Waterproof Top Coat Mascara, because if there is anything worse than racoon eyes, I’d like to know!
