Hot Buns Review with Video Demo

Hot Buns are HOT! I’ve been seeing them everywhere–on TV, in my grocery store, even in my school bookstore.  I got really into the “sock bun” fad last summer, but my hair has grown exponentially since then, and now it’s too much to fit into a sock donut.  I loved the convenience and how it took almost zero effort to look polished (especially when I had early class or work shifts).  Of course there were some down sides to the sock bun… first one being you had to cut up a sock, and sometimes it pulled my hair so tight I’d have a headache all day.  So while I haven’t been able to do a sock bun in a while, Hot Buns sent us their product to try.  You can watch my demo on YouTube:

Hot Buns ReviewHot Buns is available in two varieties (dark hair, light hair) and each box contains two sizes, small and large. Because I have extremely thick hair, I can’t roll all my hair into the small size, but it would be cute for a half-up-half-down look. The Hot Buns look… intestine-y. They have puffs of soft material with strips of velcro to keep flyaways down.  On either end, there is a common snap button to close the bun, and an elastic to tighten the Hot Bun around your hair.

So the first time I used Hot Buns it actually broke. It was still functional, just the elastic had snapped from the inside. Luckily, Hot Buns sent a replacement right away… and the broken one still worked pretty well so it wasn’t as big of a deal.

The fold out pamphlet that comes in the box says you should work with second-day or wet hair. The first step is to start with a pony tail, wherever you want the bun to sit. Then, I start rolling the Hot Buns from the ends of my hair in an upwards motion until all of my hair is tucked in. Next is the snap, which a lot of people have trouble with but I didn’t think was difficult. Then, you pull the elastic around the bun, even out your hair, and voila! A Hot Bun!

Hot Buns Finished LookAt first I was very skeptical… as I am with most as-seen-on-TV fads. But in the end, it made a pretty decent looking bun! The best part is, it doesn’t pull on your hair anymore than a normal ponytail, so I’m not left with a headache all day.

I wish that they had a thinner Hot Buns product for thick hair, just because my bun comes out REALLY BIG with the big size (which I have to use, though, because the small one doesn’t close around my hair).  I still have to secure the bun with bobby pins to get it close to my head and to get the hair from showing the Hot Bun underneath, just like a normal sock bun.

If you have a lot of success with sock buns, I wouldn’t say this makes it any easier than that, and you can save your $10.  But if you are like me, with thick hair that makes everything harder, this is a great solution to get quick, polished buns.  Find Hot Buns for just $10 at many retailers and BuyHotBuns.com.

I absolutely love my hair bun I wear mine at first single day and sometimes I sleep in it and keep it in for like 2 days and then when I kick it out I have a very very tight curly ponytail. And my hair is super super long and thick as well. I cut the car off and I cut the string out within the first two or three times using it. And I use a scrunchie to secure my bun and I use it to match with my outfit and make it look a little bit more elegant. Also to get the curly frontal whenever you take your hair out of the bun a lot of people are saying that their hair is not curly when they take it out what you probably need to do is you need to wet your hair then we’ll interview fun and then leave it overnight and the next day it’ll be dry and you take it out and it’s really. That’s what I have to do to mine because mine will not curl if it’s dry

Believe me my hair is thiiiick. As long as you add some product, whether it be leave in conditioner or even Argan oil, I have no problems getting my hair into the hot bun!
