Improving Your Health for the New Year

I have partnered with Symbiotics® on this post, all opinions are my own.

Like many, when the new year approaches I start thinking about what I want to improve on.  Since your health affects every aspect of your life, it is always a good time to start thinking about ways to better yourself in that way.  When you are in good health, the rest of life seems to fall into place as far as I can tell.  I know that when my body is in need of better care, my attitude and energy seem to tank.  Today, I’m sharing a few tips on improving your health for the new year, so let’s chat!

Delicious Green SmoothieAdd green smoothies to your day.

I haven’t talked about this on the blog before, but early in the year I started drinking green smoothies.  If you aren’t familiar, a green smoothie involves blending greens (such as spinach, kale and more) with fruit and liquid (like almond milk, coconut water, etc.).  Like a lot of people, I NEVER thought I would enjoy drinking kale or spinach!  This from a person who LOVES spinach at the dinner table and loves vegetables in general.  However, I needed a change in my health, something to ignite a fire, a big change.  Once I tried my first green smoothie, I was hooked!  My favorite combo is spinach, pineapple, banana, and almond milk and it is delicious!  I found that having a green smoothie for breakfast gives me extra energy and nutrients that I need to live a more health conscious life.  Try it, you may love it!

walking in the parkGet more movement in your day.

Personally, I struggle with doing traditional exercise.  I truly NEED to get into a daily routine doing something for a good 30 minutes to an hour but I just don’t enjoy it.  My solution to that is to simply add more movement in my every day.  I love just walking around the neighborhood in the morning.  I’m lucky to live so close to grocery stores and drug stores so I can opt to walk there instead of take my car.  Every step counts, so making those small choices in the day keeps my body moving.  If you are like me and don’t have a love for cardio, try walking more, it’s good for you!

How to RelaxAdd a dietary supplement to make life easier.

As a busy work-at-home mom, I can tell you that my day is filled with tasks.  I can bet that your life is just like mine, whether you are a mom or not!  We all get stressed out and that often leads to tummy issues.  As we age, those issues often get amplified.  To promote GI health, you can add Symbiotics® Colostrum PLUS® to your daily regimen since it aids in normal gut health and a healthy immune system.  The powder form can be added to those green smoothies for the New Year!  When it’s that easy to combat your tummy issues, that’s one last thing to stress about.  Try glucosamine.com

How to get more restGet more sleep.

Yes, you can and you should.  I know what you are thinking:  I can’t afford to sleep more when I have all these things to do, etc. etc.  It probably seems that way, but try going to bed even one half hour early every night to get in a little more sleep.  How about those weekends?  Try staying home to relax (maybe take a short nap?) instead of bouncing around here and there.  Let’s put it this way, if you think it’s impossible to get more sleep, then you are the one who needs it most!  Make little changes in the way you rest because it’s good for you.  Being well-rested makes you ready to take on the world again.  You’ll be eager to tackle those to-do lists before you know it.

Will you be taking steps to improve your health in the new year?

I sure think a lot about my health as I grow older. I’m well aware that without health, I achieve nothing. So now, health is the first priority. I keep up with yoga daily and running occasionally.

I really need to try green smoothies in the new year – I always stick to fruit ones. I can’t even imagine what a spinach, pineapple, banana, and almond milk smoothie would taste like! Sounds super healthy, though 🙂
