Make-Up Secrets by Jemma Kidd

makeup tips book

When it comes to beauty, you can never have too many handbooks, in my opinion.  Famed makeup artist, Jemma Kidd, recently released her second book Jemma Kidd Make-Up Secrets.  It is a follow-up to Jemma Kidd Makeup Masterclass.  I don’t own that one yet but I’m going to look for it on Amazon!

I have been devouring this book, literally going through and reading it cover to cover.  Jemma’s philosophy of makeup being used sparingly to bring out natural beauty truly speaks to me.  Especially as I age, I have learned that less truly is more.  It is always better to let your true beauty shine through all the glitz!

One of my favorite sections in the book discusses lip shapes and how to create the illusion of perfect lips.  This is one of my problem areas and I am always looking to improve so these few pages are a great reference.

Another problem area for me is my hooded eyelids and how to work with them.  This section on how to work with your particular shape of eyes has been a great help!

Jemma Kidd Makeup Secrets is a beauty handbook meant for all stages of knowledge and all ages, in my opinion.  It is written well, easy to understand, and showcases gorgeous photos.  I love that the book is in two parts:  Making Makeup Work for You and Problem Solver, where Jemma discusses beauty concerns she is asked about most.  That’s where you’ll find all the tricks in dealing with blemishes, dull skin, tips for looking younger and more. Find it on Amazon.

Do you have any beauty book favorites I should know about?

I like to read a good makeup book from time to time! I have read almost all the Bobbi Brown ones (not yet the new one though), and I need to lay my hands on some Jemma Kidd sooner or later. I keep seeing this brand on blogs but it’s not available here!

Hey Sunny! Oh I need to get the Bobbi Brown books too! I haven’t tried Jemma Kidd because honestly it seems like a high price point for Target. I don’t know maybe that sound silly?

Jemma Kidd is one brand I’ve been wanting to try whenever I go to Target but I always end up buying Sonya Kashuk 🙂 Looks like a good book! Btw, I don’t know if it’s just me but the newsletter/email I am subscribed to has no links to your posts…

I agree I always want to try Jemma Kidd but always find the price point a bit high for Target? Thank you for letting me know about the links, I managed to find a temporary fix until the Subscriber2 plugin is updated. Further emails will still not show direct links to post but at least will have a link to my homepage for now :(.
