Movie Review: Frankenweenie - My Highest Self

Movie Review: Frankenweenie

I had the opportunity to see an advance screening of Frankenweenie and both my son and I loved this Tim Burton & Disney film!  This is a stop-motion, black-and-white, 3D film that has everything we have come to expect from Tim Burton and more.  Winona Ryder as a dark little girl?  Check.  Danny Elfman score?  Check.

The movie centers around a boy named Victor Frankenstein who loses his dog Sparky unexpectedly.  He uses his love for science to get his beloved dog back and from there the whole town gets involved!  One of the things I loved about Frankenweenie is the many references to classic horror movie like Frankenstein, Dracula, even Godzilla!  With the 3D technology making this movie truly come to life, my son and I were both in amazement.

May I introduce you to my absolute favorite character, Mr. Whiskers?  This psychic cat had me laughing out loud every single time he was on the movie screen!

Whether you are a die-hard Tim Burton fan or have never seen a Tim Burton film, I am pretty sure you will love this movie.  If you have a heart and like to laugh you will love this movie.  If you have kids, they will love this movie, too.  I highly recommend Frankenweenie for the whole family!

I know you really can’t go wrong with Tim Burton! My favs are the older stuff, Edward Scissorhands, etc :).
