Review: Aveda Live Life Vibrantly Limited Edition Gift Set - My Highest Self

Review: Aveda Live Life Vibrantly Limited Edition Gift Set

Since I have color-treated hair and the color I choose is usually in the “Intense Red” category, I need a shampoo and conditioner that will preserve my color.  Red is a color that will fade very quickly if you use the wrong products.

Most recently, I have been trying out the Aveda* Live Life Vibrantly Limited Edition Gift Set I showed you in one of my Holiday Gift Idea posts.

The set comes packaged in a beautiful box, wrapped with lokta paper handcrafted by men and women from the Himalayas:

After removing the ribbon, the box opens up like a drawer:
Inside you will find the Color Conserve Shampoo, Damage Remedy Daily Hair Repair, Color Conserve Conditioner:

After a few weeks of use, I can tell you that this set is an absolute hair-saver!  First, the fragrance from the “Aveda’s Own Pure-Fume with Certified Organic Lavender, Ylang Ylang, Pepperment, Geranium, and Grapefruit” is nothing short of heavenly.  Besides giving you the aromatherapy feeling of a salon at home, the fragrance is both refreshing and relaxing.  Each of the three products contains the “Pure-Fume”.

The Color Conserve Shampoo is light on the hair and protects color-treated strands beautifully.  I have shown no signs of color fading to speak of.  I’m sure the color has indeed faded a bit but it looks red and vibrant as ever to my eyes.

The Color Conserve Conditioner is also on the not-too-heavy side.  I have never enjoyed a conditioner that would weigh down my hair and almost make it feel dirty again, bleh!  This conditioner smooths the hair and makes styling a cinch.

The Damage Remedy Daily Hair Repair is to be used in damp hair and combed through to detangle and protect from breakage and damage.  This was great for me because even though my hair is short, I still blowdry and flat-iron just about every day.  Between color and heat styling my hair could start to look like a straw mess without this additional product!  The Damage Remedy is the final product that helps me to get the sleek look that I like for my hair.

Overall, the Live Life Vibrantly Limited Edition Set ($49) from Aveda* has been a hair-saver, as I mentioned earlier.  In my opinion, there is just no point in putting color in your hair if you are not going to take care of it!  You can find this set at Aveda retail centers, salons, and Aveda.com.  Please note, this is a limited edition set for Holiday 2011 so grab it while you can!

That’s funny, meh is how I feel when I DON’T color my hair!! My real hair color is so drab, I just feel alive when it’s fresh color. Do you go to a salon or do it yourself?

I go to a salon — never been brave enough to do it myself! 😀 I actually really love my natural hair color. Usually I’ve just gotten highlights and lo-lites to spruce things up, but recently I noticed a few grey hairs, and I’m all, “WHAaaaaaa???” >:O

So funny! Yes, there is one gray hair in particular that taunts me when I start getting roots, ahhhhhh!!! I used to love going to the salon to get my hair done, then I had my son and stayed home with him. Without the extra income from my job, that was one of the expenses that I cut down on. No big deal though, before I started going to the salon I did my own hair all the time. I remember bleaching it excessively even when my hair was almost down to my butt, crazy! P.S. You are SO lucky that you love you natural hair color!
