Review: Burt's Bees Sensitive Facial Cleanser & Daily Moisturizing Cream - My Highest Self

Review: Burt’s Bees Sensitive Facial Cleanser & Daily Moisturizing Cream

My skin is primarily oily/acne-prone but is also very sensitive.  Especially in the winter, I get dry skin and redness on my cheeks and other random spots, too.  I was happy to try out the new products for sensitive skin by Burt’s Bees* recently and I have mixed feelings on the outcome.

The Sensitive Facial Cleanser is 99% natural, soap free, fragrance free, is formulated with cotton extract to soften, rice extract to moisturize, and aloe to soothe.  It is a creamy cleanser and that means it does not lather.  I found this cleanser does clean without over-drying or causing redness, just as it claims.  I started off using it once in the morning and once at night.  This left my skin feeling “not right” in the sense that I think I need that extra help that I get from some of the oily skin cleansers.  In the end I decided that I would alternate and use this cleanser in the morning and another of my favorite cleansers that I use to combat acne at night.

The Sensitive Daily Moisturizing Cream is also 99% natural, fragrance free, formulated with cotton extract to soften, and rice extract to moisturize.  It is a nice consistency, not too thick and not watery.  I found that this moisturizer does not sink into the skin right away when you swipe it on, which I really didn’t care for.  It does eventually disappear into your skin (of course) and is very gentle and does moisturize and nourish skin all day as promised.  I used this twice daily with no issues and no need to cut down to once daily.

Overall, I would continue to use the Burt’ Bees Sensitive Facial Cleanser once daily and alternate with another cleanser to keep my acne-prone skin happy.  I will keep the Burt’s Bees Sensitive Daily Moisturizing Cream on hand to use once or twice daily.  I would recommend this to anyone with sensitive skin as all claims with regard to sensitive skin do hold up.  If you have oily-skin, you may or may not have the same results as I did.  Only you know your skin best!
