Review: DIANE by Diane von Furstenberg - My Highest Self

Review: DIANE by Diane von Furstenberg

Being a member of the Vogue Influencer Network this year has been an outstanding experience.  I have had the opportunity to review the Clarisonic PLUS, the latest mascaras from Covergirl and Lancome, and also get a first look at designer items.

DIANE by Diane von Furstenberg

The latest from the Vogue Influencer Network was the loveliest package that included a DIANE by Diane von Furstenberg* 6.7 fl. oz Perfumed Body Lotion, as well as a sample of the Eau de Toilette.  With a gorgeous DVF black bow and a special note to the Network, I almost didn’t want to open it!

The very first time I put a dab of this lotion on, I declared “this is not my type of fragrance”.  It has a sophisticated elegance to it that I was not accustomed to wearing.  The description from DVF says “DIANE opens with bold notes of Frangipani, intertwined with subtle hints of Violet and base notes of myrrh, musk and patchouli.”  I had to do a search to find out what Frangipani is: A tropical American tree or shrub (genus Plumeria) of the dogbane family, with clusters of fragrant white, pink, or yellow flowers.  My guess is that my nose did not care for the Frangipani top notes at first.  After giving the other fragrance notes some time to show up, this fragrance has actually grown on me!  Also, does anyone else notice that their sense of smell changes throughout the month?  Those hormonal ups and downs can really do a number on your nose, I think.

The body lotion is actually very moisturizing and the scent lasts throughout the day.  If you decide to layer the eau de toilette with the lotion, you might overdo it since this is quite a lasting scent.  I do feel like DIANE is the type of fragrance that goes with an elegant evening out and is not an everyday fragrance for me.  That is my opinion and you certainly may not find that to be true.

I’m so happy I gave this fragrance another chance and I have grown to like it.  I will wear DIANE with confidence and remember a quote from Diane von Furstenberg herself:

“Everything I know about seduction is in the bottle.”

What do you think of DIANE by Diane von Furstenberg*?  Was there ever a fragrance that had to grow on you?  Leave a comment, I’d love to hear what you have to say!
