Review with Before and After Photos: L’Oreal Paris Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream – Medium

Recently, I have been testing the L’Oreal Paris Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream in Medium.

This BB Cream contains “beautifying beads: encapsulated pigments infused in an ultra-light lotion with antioxidant Vitamin E”.  It sets out to be a 4-in-1: “primes to smooth skin’s texture, perfects to hide imperfections, hydrates for all day moisture, corrects skin for a healthy looking even complexion.”

The L’Oreal Magic BB Cream is very thin in consistency and first appears white with little beads.  In the skin swatch below, after I swiped it into my skin just once, you will notice it started to change color right away!

Below you will notice after just one more swipe, the color of this BB cream changes even more.L'Oreal Magic bb cream swatch medium

As far as scent, this BB cream only has a bit of the typical foundation scent, nothing over-powering.  I felt like I had to blend quickly since the very watery consistency seemed to set quickly and has a very dry finish.  I used my Eco Tools Bamboo Foundation brush to apply.

Below you can see my BEFORE and AFTER photos.  The first photo shows me without any makeup at all, with all my imperfections and discolorations clearly visible.  In the second photo, I am wearing only the L’Oreal Magic BB Cream in Medium.

loreal magic bb cream before and after reviewWhat I like about this BB cream is that it completely covers any and all redness.  That is one of my biggest concerns (next to acne and fine lines) and L’Oreal Magic is fantastic in covering redness.  Unfortunately, the finish makes my skin look so dry!  The final color also makes me look a bit ghostly.  I am so torn with how I feel about this BB cream as it does an amazing job of covering redness and keeps my very oily face completely matte throughout the whole day.  I did not experience any shine or oil showing through while wearing L’Oreal Magic for 8 hours.  At the same time I do not like the very dry finish on my skin as it highlights all my fine lines.  The ghostly pale color it produces on my face did not make me happy either.  I just did not feel comfortable wearing only the L’Oreal Magic out in public.   When I added my other face products: bronzer, blush, etc. it only accentuates the dry look even more.

Overall, L’Oreal Magic BB Cream covers redness beautifully and keeps my very oily face completely oil-free and shine-free the whole day.  The downside for me is that it has a very dry finish, accentuates my fine lines terribly, and makes me look very pale.  I guess the final verdict is this one is not for me.

I looked at your other BB and cc creams reviews and pics. I Think you look VERY pretty in this makeup. Your redness looks completly gone and the color looks very natural on you.To be honest it makes me WANT to go buy the product as it also appears to be helping your fine lines.
I also have the redness in my skin. Thanks for posting all the pics. Now if only this product will do the same for ME…..

Hi Jeannie! Thank you very much for your kind words they are much appreciated. I am so glad that my photos and reviews have helped you! I think for me it’s just a case of looking at my face close-up and seeing a dry finish. I know that no one else probably sees it the way I do but it’s so hard to ignore I guess :). I hope this works for you, please let me know if you try it!

I agree, I like to know about the fragrance of a product always. I like a fresh scent but nothing too overpowering in a foundation. Anything with an unpleasant scent is out the door!

So glad I’m not crazy on this. What a bummer that’s it’s so great for oil control but looks so drying :(.
