Road Trip Beauty Essentials - My Highest Self

Road Trip Beauty Essentials

what to bring on a road trip

It has been years since I’ve embarked on a road trip but I would like to hit the road again soon.  While I certainly have a love/hate relationship with the concept, I know I want my kids to find out what it’s like.  Heading to a destination via car is nothing like jumping on a plane to get somewhere.  Basically, packing for a car trip is can be overwhelming or it can be a cinch.  I think it depends on how you look at it really.  I say, don’t over-think it.  I challenged myself to put together my absolutely (positively, totally, without-a-doubt) essential beauty items for a road trip.  I allowed just 5 minutes to decide what really mattered if I suddenly had to jump in the car and go!  See what made the cut…

In the order of what I grabbed first in my 5-minute challenge:

1.  Toothbrush and toothpaste – This is a duo I can’t live without!  Clean teeth, clean mouth, fresh breath is of #1 importance.

2.  U by Kotex Pads – One thing is for sure, I will get my period at THE most inconvenient time and I always have to have a few of these on hand.  The 3D Capture Core in these pads locks away the moisture, keeping me confident with worry about leaks.  Want to try these? 3.  Aveeno Skin Brightening Scrub – This scrub has been a beauty must-have for me since I first tried it a few years ago.  There is truly no other facial cleanser/scrub that can match what it does for my oily skin.  It keeps my face feeling clean, balanced, and smooth.  It is gentle enough for daily use and I can’t live without it!

4.  Secret Clinical Strength – Another favorite for a couple of years now, this anti-perspirant rocks!  If you want to avoid being the stinky one in the car, I’d grab this and keep it close by.

5.  Acetaminophen – I don’t really get sick often but I do suffer from frequent headaches (sometimes migraines) and recurring neck/shoulder pain.  Two of these pills are definitely necessary for me to get through a day if my pain is acting up.

6.  Aveeno Wipes – While these are designed to remove makeup, I use these as facial wipes, hand wipes and a whole lot more.  On a road trip, you probably won’t stumble upon a spa along the way so these could come in pretty handy.  In a pinch, you could use these to quickly wipe away any sweat on the face/neck/arms/legs.  These are great for the whole family, I use them on my kids all the time.

7.  boscia Clarifying Detox Mask – With my oily skin, breakouts can be an issue.  If I do detect a pimple coming on, using this clay mask will usually nip it quickly in the bud!  Yes, I call it a necessity because if I don’t deal with a pimple right away it will become major.

8. Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Face Sunscreen – This is oil-free so it is perfect for my skin.  Since discovering it this year, I use it every single day.  I love it’s non-greasy feel and it keeps me from getting a dreaded sunburn.

9.  Aveeno Clear Complexion Moisturizer – Yes, another Aveeno product is in my absolute essentials list!  While I debated whether to put this on my list, I actually do feel that my skincare routine is not complete without this moisturizer.  With all of the products I test, I ALWAYS go back to the Clear Complexion Moisturizer.  It does help prevent breakouts and doesn’t leave my face shiny.

Of course, given more than 5 minutes I would certainly grab a few more beauty essentials for any road trip.  I would probably stuff a few hair ties, a favorite lip balm, and my Forever Red Vanilla Rum in my bag if I had the chance!

I often pack most of these items too. Never want to be caught without feminine protection. 😉
