Schick Xtreme3 Eco - Helping the Environment One Razor at a Time - My Highest Self

Schick Xtreme3 Eco – Helping the Environment One Razor at a Time

I was so happy to read that Schick will debut the first disposable razor in the U.S. to use 100% recycled materials in its handle and packaging!  The Schick Xtreme3 Eco is currently available for both men and women at Wal-Mart with national distribution coming in April.  According to Schick:  In order to have a more immediate impact on the environment, Schick® chose to use post-consumer recycled plastic instead of other biodegradable or recycled materials.  Among the items retrieved and recreated in the Eco razor handle are common household items like hangers, buckets, and pails.

About 2 years ago, we decided to start recycling everything at home, paper, glass, plastic, etc.  By doing this, we reduced our trash to just 1 bag per week!  We produce at least 2 bags of recycling each week.  I actually have to drive about 20 minutes to drop off all of our recycling because our town doesn’t have a program to recycle everything that we do at home.  I felt like a million bucks after deciding to recycle all that we could at home.  It was one of the best decisions I have ever made.  Each one of us can make a real difference in this world and it just takes a little bit of effort.

I’m ecstatic that Schick has become a first in the U.S. to make a big step in the right direction!  What do you think of the new Schick Xtreme3 Eco?  Will you be replacing your disposable razor with the new eco-friendly version?  Have you changed your way of living at all to help the environment?  Leave a comment and let me know your thoughts on this!

I have been a huge recycling fan for a long time. I even got some of my family on the same track! Also, about 8 years ago, I joined freecycle.org. It’s a global program to help the environment by keeping items out of landfills. There are groups that people join to give away items in their home they no longer use or need. If someone needs the item, they respond to that person and take the item from them. Also, it’s a great place to go if you need something and want to find something second-hand. I enjoyed the program so much, now I run the group for my county! I really feel like I’m doing something amazing for my planet!

Hi Andi! I love that you are into Freecycle, I used to post items on their site but haven’t done that in a few years. I will have to get back into that, it’s a great program 🙂

        Tina,
I think it’s a good idea that you get back into Freecycle.org! I’ll tell ya, I feel SO good about myself ever since I started running a group. It not only gives me a sense of doing something good for the world, but I feel like I’m giving back to my community and helping those in this area. Warm and fuzzy feelings bubble all around LOL
        (I am so weird)
        Have a great day!

Thumbs up!!! I’ll try it, if it’s not too bad I’ll switch to it and get rid of Venus – sorry Venus.

100% recycled materials in its handle and packaging that is great I will look for them.
We recycle but it is super easy since we live in Oregon we have been doing it for a long time. We have containers for paper/plastic/cardboard and also glass that we put out with our regular trash to be picked up. We also take clothes, furniture and other household items that are still useable to Goodwill or St. Vincent and that is also a form of recycling.
Good job Tina driving to drop off your recycle stuff.

I’m wondering what the price on these will be, recycled products are always more expensive. Hoping that will change one of these days. Yes, you’re right about recycling goods, I hate to see good items in the trash!
