Three Shades from the China Glaze Capitol Colours Collection - My Highest Self

Three Shades from the China Glaze Capitol Colours Collection

Agro, Luxe and Lush, Stone Cold

The much-anticipated Capitol Colours Collection from China Glaze has a number of stand-out shades.  Both Agro and Luxe and Lush were a couple of my favorites from the moment I saw the first swatch sheet, as I have a love for greens (and shimmer).  Let’s take a look:

Shown below is 2 coats of Agro, 1 top coat.  I’m absolutely as much in love with this on my nails as in the bottle! Love it, love it.

Next, is 1 coat of Luxe and Lush over Agro:

I admit I have not gotten fully on-board with how Luxe and Lush looks on my nails.  In the bottle it is to-die-for and I love displaying it.  I thought I would love it, but in reality it’s just OK on my nails.  I think the flakies are too big and clunky for me.  After trying it on top of a few colors, it’s remains just OK for me.  While it’s a little disappointing, it could be that I haven’t found the right combo for Luxe and Lush.

Here’s 1 coat of Luxe and Lush on top of Revlon ColorStay in Rainforest and L’Oreal Colour Riche in Because You’re Worth It.  Now…Luxe and Lush and Because You’re Worth It together is pretty nice but I still don’t LOVE it.

Last up is Stone Cold and this is a shade that is just not for me.  I swatched and photographed this once before on my nails and hated it.  These photos are my second go around and all that trouble made me like it even less!  It is a matte nail color and the Stone Cold name certainly suits it.  It’s like a shimmer black that just got frozen in time.  I just did not like a matte look on my nails.

What are your thoughts on these shades from the China Glaze Capitol Colors collection?  Do you love or hate the matte nail color?  Leave a comment and let me know your deepest thoughts and your wildest dreams…or whatever ;).

* Luxe and Lush & Stone Cold are PR samples.  I purchased Agro from America’s Beauty Show. *

I got the whole collection (new thing for me this year because I regret it when I don’t). Luxe is sooo similar to CC Covered in diamonds. I wish I had an itty bitty blender to chop up those flakies a bit more.

Good for you, woman! Nothing better than learning from past mistakes 😉 I had to look up the CC one and DANG those flakies look even bigger. It was hard not get a whole glob of it in one spot while applying this, too. It’s all in the technique, I guess.

I love the matte look. I’m really eyeing Stone Cold, Dress Me Up & Riveting. <3 Not diggin' the huge, chunky flakes, either, though. :/ Good pix, woman!

Do you own a lot of matte nail polish? I just can’t get into it. Thanks for the compliment, sweets!
