Essence Cosmetics* is just racking up the brownie points with me! From the 99 cent nail color, to the great gloss, and now eyeshadow for $1.99! I have been sampling 3 of the Essence* shades:
Starlight – sparkling effect
Happy Hour – metallic effect
It’s Up to You – shimmer effect
I found that all 3 shades have good pigmentation and nice lasting color when used with primer underneath. These swatches below are without primer and I think they turned out nice!
I feel that both Starlight and Happy Hour show about the same sparkle effect, even though one says “sparkling effect” and the other says “metallic effect”. Also, in my opinion It’s Up to You seems to look like a matte shadow but says “shimmer effect”. It doesn’t bother me one bit but I thought it was worth noting. As you may know, I most often prefer the sparkle-type so these do me well. Starlight is great to use on top of another shadow (be careful of glittery fallout) to give it a glow and Happy Hour looks great as a highlight for the inner corner of the eye.
Overall, these are good eyeshadows at a great price of $1.99 at Ulta. They also remind me of the Ulta brand eyeshadows which retail for $7.00. I think Essence could give Ulta a run for their money on these!
Have you tried any of the Essence* eyeshadows? What’s your opinion on the brand?
Hello. I might have to try this brand out. The shadows look really pigmented. Great pics too!
I hope you do, it’s worth a look…and thanks so much for compliment! 🙂
