Oh boy, I can’t believe we are already at the end of October! Before you know it, the Holidays will be upon us and that means family get-togethers and holiday parties. Obviously, whenever I attend said parties, I like to look nice. I have no problem getting my makeup looking great, but since I have fine/thin hair, trying to style it can be a challenge. I really long for those voluminous salon blow-outs, but I don’t have the extra money to fork out every time I need to get dressed up. I’m sharing my DIY blowout tips with you all today!
When Dove sent me a few of their products to review, I figured that it is about time for me to try and master my blowout at home! They sent a lot of items from the Oxygen Moisture line which is designed with thin hair in mind to provide lasting volume and moisture without weighing it down. Also, all of these Dove items smell SO good, especially the hair spray!
I took some steps below from Dove Hair and Dove Celebrity Stylist, Mark Townsend to create my voluminous blowout.
- The first step to getting a great blowout starts in the shower, by washing your hair with the Dove Oxygen Moisture Shampoo & Conditioner. The shampoo lathers and cleanses very well and rinses out cleanly. The conditioner is lightweight yet very moisturizing and leaves no residue behind. I am really enjoying using these everyday!
- Next, after you towel dry your hair, spray Dove Oxygen Moisture Root Lift Spray directly on roots, then dispense 1-2 pumps of Dove Oxygen Moisture Leave in Foam into palms and distribute evenly throughout hair to provide nourishment and light hold. Both of these leave your hair with nice slip, and don’t make hair feel crunchy or heavy.
- Then, separate hair into 2-3 sections and blow dry using a large round brush, lifting each section at the root to create volume. Once dry, wrap each section around 3 fingers creating a barrel roll; secure at the root with a pin. I had a little trouble creating the barrell rolls, but I am going to be practicing more before the Holidays arrive!
- Once the head is set, remove the pins and add 1-2 drops of Dove Youthful Vitality Silk Crème from mid-length to ends before spraying a conservative amount of Dove Style+Care Strength and Shine Flexible Hold Hairspray all over hair to lock in the look.
It ended up being easier than I thought to do my own blowout at home, and I had a lot of fun doing it! I’m sure with more practice I will only continue to get better results. All of these Dove products that I used really helped enhance my final look and I love that they are so affordable!

Have you tired any of these Dove products yet?
I HAD USED THESE PRODUCTS AND I FELT IT WEIGHT MY HAIR DOWN. I LOVE THE SMELL OF THEM BUT IT WAS TO HEAVY ON MY HAIR. THANKS FOR SHARING THIS GREATLY APPRECIATED.
Looking great!
Your hair looks amazing!
I love Dove, I feel like their hair care products have really improved.
I haven’t tried this line from Dove yet. I am such a hair product hoarder and this line definitely sounds up my alley.

Dove products are my jam! Love this line!
You look fabulous! I’d love to try these Dove products also.
Love how sleek and gorgeous your hair is! I can’t get barrel rolls either, but the leave-in foam sounds like a must-have for setting a style.
