At the end of my day, after the kids are in bed and all is said and done, I look forward to some entertainment! Every night I try to watch Chelsea Lately on E! Chelsea Handler makes me laugh like no one else! Anyone who is a fan of Chelsea Lately will absolutely love Lies that Chelsea Handler Told Me*. If you are like me and watch just about every episode, you will be in your glory reading the stories written by Chelsea’s closest friends and family. I loved getting all the details on the some of the inside jokes that I have seen play out on the show. Chelsea is an elaborate “story teller” (read: liar) and each person tells the intricate lies that she had them believing over the years. When I say these are some of the most ridiculously funny stories I have ever read, I kid you not! One of my favorite stories, told by Heather McDonald, had Heather believing that someone from the Chelsea Lately was going to be on Dancing with the Stars. On the show, it’s well known that Heather is dying to be on Dancing with the Stars so you can imagine the frenzy she was in. Needless to say, it was all an elaborate lie and it was hilarious! I was glad to see in a recent Chelsea Lately show that Heather was able to play out her Dancing with the Stars fantasy in a skit on the show. Go Heather!
The surprising message threading through all of these stories told by Chelsea’s family and friends: Chelsea is an amazing friend who is generous and loving and would give the shirt off her back to the people she loves. It was unexpected that the book really shows how much she loves these people. So, if you have that person in your life who’s always giving you a hard time, it’s because they really care 😉 I know, it’s comforting, right? J
By the way, I have now been convinced I would read a book written by her dog, Chunk. Yes, I thought it sounded absurd, but the last chapter is “written by Chunk” and might be funniest chapter in the whole book. Chelsea’s life through the eyes of a dog is downright ridiculous!
Being of fan of Chelsea Handler since her days on Girls Behaving Badly (anyone remember that?):
I’m also beyond excited to learn that she is working on a new comedy series for NBC based on her life in her twenties. Cannot wait for that! Two more books are in the works, and the first one is to be written by Chunk. Yes, I will be lining up for that one even though I first thought a book written by a dog was incredibly stupid. See, Chelsea Handler can you have believing anything ;).
