Swatch & Review: Maybelline Fit Me! Bronzer - My Highest Self

Swatch & Review: Maybelline Fit Me! Bronzer

I am a bronzer-aholic. I love contouring my face and just feel that a look isn’t complete with at least a dash of bronzer. I have tried my fair share of them, but still haven’t found my perfect drugstore companion for the bronzing job.

I’ve been playing around with the Maybelline Fit Me! Bronzer in medium bronze for the past few weeks now. I don’t recall ever having tried any face products from Maybelline, so had no frame of reference on what to expect.

Maybelline Fit Me Bronzer reviewThe first thing I noticed is the pigmentation, or lack thereof. In the pan, this looks like a great medium brown. I love that it’s matte (with a golden sheen), because I find many drugstore bronzers contain shimmer, being counterintuitive to contouring. A swatch on clean skin is totally invisible, however. At first I chalked it up to me being too tan for this shade, but even when swatched on the lightest part of my body, the pigmentation was very low. When you apply over foundation the color picks up a little bit, and can be built up to a degree. However it took a lot of work to get it right. Mind you, I don’t go crazy with my contouring but I want it to at least be easy to shade.

Because it applies very lightly, it’s easy to blend and goes on very smoothly. The product does seem a bit stiff in the pan and it’s hard to pick up a lot of product with both brushes or my fingers.

I think that Maybelline Fit Me! Bronzer in medium bronze would be most suitable for those with more of a pale complexion, or even for makeup beginners who want to avoid a Jersey Shore-esque look. It’s pretty impossible to get it to that extreme with this shade.

I would like to try the darkest of the shades and see if that is a little easier to work with for my skin, but unfortunately based on this shade alone, I would say if you are any darker than “natural beige,” this bronzer isn’t for you.  Available in 3 shades at Walmart, ULTA, and more, $4.99.

Have you tried any of these bronzers?  If so, what did you think?
