Back in August, I made my first purchase from Little Black Bag. If you haven’t heard, it’s a fairly unique little service where you pay $49.90 for a mystery bag…sort of.
When you purchase your bag, you pick one item that you know you want. There are handbags, jewelry, beauty, small home items, and more to choose from. I picked out a very nice handbag. Once you pay, you can see the other 3 items in your bag and trading opens up. You can trade all the items in your bag with other members for the next 7 days.
It was fun at first and then it just got repetitive. I knew I wanted the Nila Anthony tote that I had chosen and most people wanted to trade for that! Anyway, I did wait it out the full 7 days before I shipped my bag to see if anything better came along. I made a few jewelry trades but I was over it after the first day or so.
My Little Black Bag included:
1- BCBGeneration Studs & Zippers Bracelet 2- Kenneth Cole New York Round Shell with Chains Necklace 3- All the Rage Tribal Collar Necklace 4- Nila Anthony Tote with Studded Handles 5- Steve Madden $15 off $75 at Steve Madden |
This necklace below actually arrived missing one of the little decorative balls 🙁
According to the retail prices that Little Black Bag provides for all the items, I think I saved over $100.00.
I do like the items that I chose in my bag but was unhappy that one item arrived damaged. I can’t see myself doing this again any time soon, I am not in need of a new bag or jewelry every single month. Maybe this will be something for once a year for me?
Have you bought a Little Black Bag yet?

Hmm, to be honest I’d rather spend my $50 per month on stuff I really like as opposed to a bag of stuff I may or may not like. It’s a cute idea but I don’t like how restrictive it is.

I know, it’s the newness of the service that got me. It’s not something that I got addicted to like it seems like others do! It was fun to try once :).
Do you know if this is available in Canada?
Author
Hi Miranda, the site says not in Canada YET but they hope to be shipping there and internationally soon! 🙂
I liked what you purchased, but I’m sorry to see the necklace is damaged. No, I haven’t bought a Little Black Bag, but I liked reading what you thought of it!

Hi Moxie, I know I should have contacted the company about the damage but I just didn’t feel like it. Thanks for reading!
I never tried this although I heard some good stuff about LBB. How do you feel about trading? I guess that part has not gotten into me yet…

Hi Kath, I was done with the trading after the first day, it really wasn’t too exciting for me! Everyone kept asking to trade for my bag and I wanted to trade my jewelry, so it became really repetitive.
If you contact them will they do anything about the necklace? Of course where the piece is missing is smack in the middle.
Some people become addicted to the trading of this concept and I think that’s what keeps them going.

Hi Marcia, you know I didn’t even feel like bothering with contacting them but I should have! It so funny that the trading was exciting for the first day and then BLAH for me!
You can either send your necklace back for a refund or an exchange. Since you don’t plan on opening another bag any time soon, going for an exchange would probably be your best bet. LBB has great customer service, too…you can check out littleblackbag.com/refunds for more info on how their returns work.

Thanks Danielle, you’ve convinced me! I need to exchange the necklace because I’m just not happy about it. Thanks so much :).
I love the bracelet!!!

Hi Jennifer, thanks!!
That seems petty cool but I don’t think I could do that every month either. Especially paying 49.99 and receiving damaged jewlery yikes!
I do like the bag though!

Hi Kristin, I know I’d rather spend $50.00 a month on beauty products or music, but we all have our preferences!
