Since my last facial cleanser review, I spent about 4 days using the Boscia Black Cleanser that I sampled from Sephora (see more on that here). I did like the Boscia but it has a warming effect which I don’t love. So, on the next!
It was time to start using the Alpha Hydrox Foaming Face Wash that I found at Walgreens with a on it! Wow, I just realized I bought this back in February. Anyway…
There are a number of good things about this facial wash: It’s good for all skin types, soap-free, pH balanced, and oil-free. This cleanser works particularly well with my oily, acne-prone skin.
The Alpha Hydrox Foaming Face Wash has a pearly look to it and has a thin consistency. It has a bit of a medicine/sterile scent to it but it’s so subtle I hardly notice (and my nose is super-sensitive). It produces a light, frothy lather. I’ve been using this twice daily and love that it gives my skin that breathable feeling afterwards. You know, when your pores feel open and clean? There’s no feeling that a residue has been left behind like some cleansers.
My most favorite thing about this facial wash is that it is effective in cleansing my skin when I have foundation and other cosmetics to wash off my face at night. Normally, I will use a more “scrubby” cleanser to wash off my makeup (like this one from Nelson’s or this one from Aveeno). I am happy to report the Alpha Hydrox Foaming Face Wash gets rid of all traces of makeup and leaves my skin feeling refreshed and also moisturized. I have no need for a special “removing makeup” cleanser! The bottle does state “safe and gentle for eye makeup removal” but I never use cleansers for removing eye makeup.
Overall, I’m impressed! This is a great facial wash for my oily skin at an excellent price (I paid $8.99 at Walgreens). You can find Alpha Hydrox products at drugstores, mass market retailers, I’ve seen them at ULTA and also on Amazon.com.
Do you think you might try this cleanser? Have you tried any of the Alpha Hydrox products at all? What’s your favorite facial wash/cleanser right now?
Hi Tina did it leave your skin dry at all? I find that most of these types of cleansers leave my skin tight (I have combination to oily skin).
Hi Sarah! You know, it did not leave my skin dry or tight at all. The first two ingredients are water and glycerin so I’ll bet that’s why! I’ve also been following this up with the Zum Face toner and the Simple Skincare Light moisturizer. It has been a really nice combination for me these past couple weeks.
i’ve tried the moisturizer from them and it was okay…..i’m actually using the boscia black one lol, got it from sephora as a sample as well, goes nice with my clarisonic
Oh my god that’s too funny! I liked it but I guess I didn’t like the warming effect enough to want to buy it. I still have to try the Boscia Black Mask, did you try that?
