As a blogger who gets enjoyment (and a ton of blog content) out of reviewing beauty products, I change out my skincare items quite frequently. Over the past four weeks, I have used Hydroxatone* skincare products exclusively and can say that I am in absolutely no hurry to try something new! Usually by the four-week mark I am ready to be on to the next thing.
Let’s take a look at the four products that have me hooked:
The Gentle Milky Cleanser is a liquid cleanser that actually has a pearly white appearance! It has a nice pump at the top for easy dispensing and it is not a lathering cleanser. I am always skeptical of non-lathering cleansers, thinking “this is not going to work for my oily/acne prone skin”. No issues in that department, it worked great for my skin type. I found this cleanser to be excellent for removing dirt and oil while keeping my skin hydrated and free of pimples. It is gentle but still effective, which I find can be rare.
The Age-Defying Toner is a gentle toner that was never harsh on my skin. You will not feel a “burn” with this toner like with some. I like that you see ingredients like Pomegranate extract and Green Tea extract in the ingredients list, a good indicator that it won’t abuse your skin. The product is dispensed through a small hole at the top which prevents you from dumping the whole bottle on your cotton pad (very handy). This toner is a great second step to get any final traces of dirt off your face.
The AM/PM Anti-Wrinkle Complex (SPF 15) is the third step in this Hydroxatone skincare routine. This is a cream that might be considered thick but thin enough to melt into your skin within two minutes. I have used quite a number of creams that were thick and never really felt like they sunk into my skin. I would end up wiping my face down because the product just sat on my skin. The AM/PM Anti-Wrinkle Complex perfectly absorbs into my skin and truly produced a visible difference in texture and skin tone. After using this complex, my skin now has an even tone and texture from the top of my forehead all the way down my neck. In the past, I have always noticed a significant difference in the texture of the skin on my face and on the jawline/neck area. Since using these products, I finally have smooth skin all over my face and neck equally.
The Revitalizing Microdermabrasion has a creamy texture combined with grittiness of the Magnesium Oxide that gently polish away all that dead skin that normally builds up on your face over time. This product is to be used every other day for one week and then you take a break for one week to let your skin renew itself. You can certainly feel the Magnesium Oxide polishing away at your skin as you massage it in with wet hands. It will be a different sensation if you have never used any microdermabrasion products before. It didn’t bother me because I have used others. I found Hydroxatone’s version to be the best I have tried yet.
I feel it’s important to follow the directions on this product exactly or you could overdo it. In general, I feel it’s a good practice anyway but especially with a more intense skincare product. You have to walk around in that face all day and you don’t want it to be in bad shape!
It was the week after using the Revitalizing Microdermabrasion that I really fell in love with my skin. I’m thinking, “hey, this Hydroxatone stuff really works!”. I enjoy the smoother look and feel of my skin and I no longer have the red patches that typically show up on my cheeks in the winter. I don’t have dry or itchy patches near my jawline and I’ve even noticed some fine lines fade into the background.
What’s Left After Four Weeks of Use?
Below you will find photos of the products to show what’s left after four weeks of use. I typically used the cleanser, toner, and AM/PM complex one to two times daily. You can see I have used about 3/4 of the toner and about 1/2 of the cleanser in a four week period.
Below is a photo of the AM/PM Complex after using it for four weeks. I’m guessing I may have used half of this jar. It’s a lot more difficult to gauge how much is left because of the packaging on this one. That’s my only gripe about this product is the packaging, which certainly is not that big of a deal.
I haven’t even made a small dent in the Microdermabrasion so there is no need to show a difference in photos.
