Review with Before and After Photos: Garnier Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector B.B. Cream - My Highest Self

Review with Before and After Photos: Garnier Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector B.B. Cream

I’ve now had the chance to test out the Garnier Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector B.B. Cream (Light/Medium) (that’s a mouthful!) a number of times and would love to share my thoughts.  This B.B. Cream has an SPF 15 and sets out to do the following:  From the Garnier website:  “combine intense moisturizing skincare + immediate skin perfecting coverage for skin that looks naturally more even, radiant and smooth with just one multi-benefit product”.

Below you can see a skin swatch of the B.B. Cream (Light/Medium) first unblended and then blended:

The product itself is super creamy and blends easily as you can probably tell in the photo above.  It has a very nice, fresh scent which is a favorite quality of mine.  As you apply, it gives a bit of a cooling effect to the skin.  I have never been a fan of using my fingers to apply any type of foundation, so I use my foundation brush to apply.  This method worked like great for me.

Below you can see I’m (bravely) showing you the BEFORE and AFTER photos.  The first photo is me without any makeup at all (obviously) which shows all my imperfections and discolorations clearly.  In the second photo, all I have on my face is the Garnier B.B. Cream!  I think the photo shows how the B.B. Cream does a pretty good job of evening out my complexion and blurring out some imperfections.

I will say that the very first time I used it I felt a little disappointed that my oily spots showed through after one hour.  Then I used it again and again.  This product does not claim to keep your face matte or take away the shine.  It does provide you with a visibly smoother complexion, a bit of dewy-type finish, and I absolutely love that this feels so good on the skin. It never, ever looks like you are wearing heavy foundation.  I also found that I could apply 2 or 3 thin layers in areas with more redness (cheeks and nose) and it layers very well.

The photo above shows me with ONLY the Garnier B.B. Cream on so you can see what it looks like all by itself.  This week, I’ve been wearing the B.B. Cream as my foundation with all of my regular makeup (concealer, bronzer, blush, highlighter, eyeshadow, etc.).  The B.B. Cream works extremely well with my full-face makeup.  I do find that I need to blot my oily areas (nose, chin, cheeks) pretty often though.  No big deal!

In the photo below you can see the Garnier B.B. Cream being worn with all of my other makeup:

Overall, the Garnier B.B. Cream really won me over!  After I wore it just a few times, I found myself reaching for it all the time.  I love that it applies and blends into my skin beautifully.  In my experience, this product truly lives up to Garnier’s claims.  I really love that I can do a couple of thin extra layers on my areas of redness without it looking caked.  Of course, it goes without saying that I appreciate that this B.B. Cream did not cause any irritation or breakouts.  I don’t even mind that I have to blot or powder my nose a few extra times with this product.  It actually reminds me a lot of another foundation I reviewed last year.

You can find Garnier Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector B.B. Cream (2.5 fl oz) at drugstores and mass retail outlets for around $11.99.  I actually saw it for sale on Amazon.com, too.

Have you tried the Garnier B.B. Cream yet?  What did you think of it?  Leave a comment with your thoughts on this product, I’d love to hear from you!

I’ve head really bad reviews about this product… But it was recently on sale at my local drugstore, so I picked it up anyways. Haha. Turns out, I really like it! I have some dryer skin areas, and I find it gives a good amount of moisture and covers well. Thanks for giving this product a good review. I hope more people will give it a chance.

I read a lot of those reviews, too! Products definitely work on people in different ways so I’m glad I went ahead and tried this one. Glad to hear you really like it as well!

THis sounds like some really good stuff. I’d like to try a BB cream and this looks like a good place to start. Nice review!

Thanks! I think Garnier really did a great job on the formula for this one. I plan on doing a real test of the 3LAB BB cream this week, so we’ll see how that works out!

Tina you look way better than I do without any makeup 🙂 Great review I have never tried a BB Cream just might try one now.

Oh now I KNOW we are all our own worst critics so I’ll bet you look just great with no makeup! If you do try it, you’ll have to let know how it works for you!

Have you tried a mattifying powder? that might help with the oil… i hear that the maybelline dream matte is brilliant.

You know, my skin has never responded well to pressed powder! I do have an Origins loose powder that I dust on sometimes in my oily areas. Even when I tried that, the oil still came through. I haven’t tried any of the Dream Matte products, I’ll have to look into it. Thanks for the tip!

Thanks for the review. It looks really good on you 🙂 I’m going to buy it. I like that it can be layered without caking! I’m oily and need coverage. I’m thinking I might dab my MAC StudioFix powder foundation on problem areas…..or try an oil control gel under the bb cream 🙂

Thank you so much for the compliment! I like your ideas for oil control, I do think it’s all about finding what works for you. Be sure to let me know what you think of it!

      Thank you, my dear!

Thanks for the review Tina! Have you tried to use some kind of loose or setting powder on your T-zone though? Perhaps that would help with the shine?

    • April 11, 2012 / 2:37 pm

You know I did try a light dusting of my Origins loose powder just on my oily areas some days. It seemed either way I was still blotting those areas! Even so, I still really like this BB cream, crazy but true.

Did you find that it made your skin oilier (that’s what so many complaints are about for this product)? I really want to try it but I have combination skin with my chin being oily. If it doesn’t add to the oil then I’m OK with that and I will give it a go. I got a sample of the Boscia BB Cream at Sephora over the weekend but it has a bit of a shimmer in it and I don’t care for that.

    • April 11, 2012 / 2:34 pm

Personally, I did not find that it made my skin more oily than it already is. I was scared off a little by a lot of reviews on this saying that! I think some might mistake the dewy finish of this product as extra oily skin? That’s way I was surprised that I ended up liking it as much as I did. It just feels weightless and really does a good job of evening the skintone. I have to agree, don’t think I’d like a shimmer all over my face!

      • April 11, 2012 / 2:49 pm

Ok, you sold me! I wanna try it. I’m almost out of my tinted moisturizer so once that is gone I’m gonna give this a go.

        • April 17, 2012 / 1:33 pm

Oh I really hope it works for you, please let me know!

This is a great review Tina, and no need to be brave to show your face without anything on you are still beautiful! I might seek out this BB cream, as I haven’t yet tried any.

Thank you so much Esther, you are too sweet! I’ve briefly tried the 3LAB BB cream but this is the only one I’ve done a full trial on. I’m planning on truly testing out 3LAB this week. Let me know if you try the Garnier one!
