I would say I’m a pretty predictable person when it comes to the basic makeup products I purchase and re-purchase. For years, I’ve sworn by Maybelline’s The Falsies Mascara, and never strayed away. Rimmel has never been a drugstore brand that really wowed me with any of their products… until now! I was very impressed by Rimmel VolumeFlash Scandaleyes Mascara.
The first thing I like about this mascara is the big brush! The bristles are soft, and it’s easy to get every eyelash with one swoop.
The very best thing about this mascara is that when it says “no clumps”… it really means no clumps. I’m always pretty skeptical when it comes to that claim; there are only a few drugstore mascaras that I’ve found that live up to it. The formula itself is light and wet, which is perfect if you like layering your mascara like I do. It won’t dry out while you’re still applying. After layering almost 5 times over, I still didn’t get any clumps. NONE. Furthermore, my eyelashes didn’t feel sticky or crunchy, and after a few hours I was still smudge-free.
The only qualm I had with the mascara was that it didn’t really thicken my lashes very much. I got some length out of them, but they still seemed like less of a full look than I’m used to.
Rimmel VolumeFlash Scandaleyes Mascara is probably my new favorite Rimmel product, and it’s great for anyone looking for a clean look for their lashes. Find it for $5-$6 at Walmart, Walgreens, Target and more.

My current fave is Benefit ‘They’re Real” but this sounds intriguing. I will have to check it out! I love mascaras that can layer

Hi Margo! I know I need to try that Benefit mascara, if you try this let us know!
They’re Real is honestly my favorite higher-end brand mascara. It does amazing things, which I think is mostly due to the brush shape. But this is a great, more affordable alternative for clean, long lashes.
