If you have not had the chance to try Merle Norman Cosmetics, I urge you to give them a look. The new collection for Spring 2012, includes a number of products (some limited edition) and all are tuned into the trends.
I’ve had the chance to try out two of the limited edition items in this collection, the Lasting Cheek Color in Heavenly and the Creamy Lipcolor in Dolled Up.
Let’s take a look:
You can see that Heavenly has a champagne shimmer overspray in a pretty flower design over the matte pink blush. Since this is an overspray, after two swipes of the top the design disappears, sad but true. I’ve been keeping as much of the design as I can by just using a small section of the blush. Silly, maybe, but that’s me! It’s a very generous size at 0.33 oz. in a lovely compact with a mirror.
The Creamy Lipcolor in Dolled Up is an “oh-so-me” bright fuchsia. Over this past year, I’ve made this shade my signature color and I’m so happy about that! If you think you can’t (or shouldn’t) wear bright lipsticks, I suggest you try it anyway. You may just fall in love with the look just like I did. While this lipstick looks tiny to the eye (just 2 1/4 in. tall) I was shocked to see that the lipstick itself is 0.13 oz. which is more product than some other lipsticks. It’s compact case makes it ideal for carrying in your purse or pocket!
Below you can see swatches left to right: one swipe of the overspray and blush, one swipe of just the blush, 3 swipes of just the blush, one swipe of the lipcolor
The Lasting Cheek Color is wonderful quality, not too powdery and just silky enough to be a truly lasting color. The Heavenly shade is matte and a lighter shade but is easily buildable if you like a heavier look. I wore this for a full 6-8 hour day with no fading at all so it lives up to the name.
The Creamy Lipcolor in Dolled Up feels amazing on the lips and highly moisturizing. When applied, it has a very pretty sheen, almost a wet look. I preferred to blot once after applying two coats and it left a beautiful, bright fuchsia matte lip stain behind. I was able to eat a small lunch and drink coffee throughout a 6 hour period and still had a nice-looking (and still bright) lip stain. When the color did fade some, it did so evenly which I loved. It irks me when after a couple of hours most of your lipstick will be gone and you’re left with a ring around the lips, it just looks like a mess. The Creamy Lipcolor hold up amazingly well.

You can find these and other items in the Spring 2012 Color Collection beginning March 1, 2012! The only downside is you can’t purchase these online. To purchase, check the website to find a Merle Norman Cosmetics studio near you.

Stores don’t usually ship to other stores unless they have the same owner, but most stores will be happy to ship directly to you! I manage an Atlanta store, and we ship to customers near and far- even out of state!
Thanks so much for letting us know, I appreciate it!
I wish it was available for purchase online. My local store is always out of what I need and it is frustrating to constantly be told.. we’re getting ready to place an order. fail!
I agree, I wish they were available online. I know Merle Norman prides themselves on the in-person studio experience but it’s unfortunate when locations don’t live up to your expectations! You can call other stores and have them ship over to your closest store, I believe. That may be inconvenient for you but hopefully you can get some resolution.
Well, thanks! Are you in love with the bright lipsticks, too?
Nice swatches! That lipstick looks divine!
