When my kids start singing and dancing along with a song, that’s when I know it’s good! I popped in Michael Franti & Spearhead’s The Sound of Sunshine in the CD player and both my kids (aged 4 and 3) started singing along and doing the wiggle! I found Michael Franti’s music to be just what we needed to get the day going right. You will definitely hear a reggae sound but also something that can only be described as happy! The music reminded me a bit of Jason Mraz just because of the feel you get with both artists is such a positive, loving vibe. Yes, Michael Franti’s music gives off a vibe and that’s what I like! Oh, and listen close for a touch of Lenny Kravitz, yes indeed.
By far my favorite (and my kids’ favorite) songs were: The Sound of Sunshine – because it really is what sunshine must sound like! Shake It – because my kids did just that, shake it, shake it, shake it 🙂 The Sound of Sunshine Going Down – a stripped down, gorgeous, and groovy version of The Sound of Sunshine, really loved this one!
Anyone who loves great music, the kind that makes you feel good from the inside out, should check out Michael Franti & Spearhead’s The Sound of Sunshine! Bonus: It’s a great CD to bring out when the kids are acting up, they really get into it!
You can have a listen (and see the lyrics) to Shake It from Michael Franti’s YouTube channel:
What are you listening to for that happy vibe? I’d love to hear what music you are into right now!
I received this CD from EMI for review, but all opinions are my own.
