Review: Bodycology Flawless Glow Luminous Lotion in Sheer Bloom - My Highest Self

Review: Bodycology Flawless Glow Luminous Lotion in Sheer Bloom

I am a self-proclaimed lotion junkie, so I was excited to try out the Bodycology Flawless Glow Luminous Lotion in Sheer Bloom. The lotion claims that it minimizes imperfections and enhances the skin with “brighteners,” while providing long-lasting hydration. I didn’t know what to expect right off the bat, but I came to discover that “brighteners” pretty much meant itsy bitsy sparkles.

bodycology flawless glow reviewI applied the lotion for the first time after showering, right before bed. I’ve had some really bad experiences with shimmer lotions in the past, and so was impulsively disappointed at first that the packaging wasn’t clear as to what brighteners really were.  However the shimmer was EXTREMELY subtle, so I continued to apply and headed to bed.

In the morning, I was pleasantly surprised to see that none of the brighteners had transferred to my sheets. However, they weren’t that prominent in my skin anymore, either. That day I was heading to Disneyland so I reapplied on my legs and arms and headed out for a day of fun in the sun!

As soon as I stepped out into the daylight, I felt a little like a Twilight vampire. The brighteners were much more prominent in the sun; my skin was shimmering and catching light left and right. Surprisingly, I kind of liked it. From anywhere further than 6 inches away, the brighteners look more like an iridescent glow over the skin rather than individual sparkles, so it didn’t look like outright body glitter, but definitely added shine to my skin. This lasted about 5 hours or so until the brighteners became more and more subtle. I guess my skin absorbed them? Not really sure how that worked exactly.

The scent, described as white peaches and jasmine, is pleasant and light. I love a lotion that isn’t overbearingly fragrant. The lotion kept my skin super soft all day, even after being in the sun and getting wet on Splash Mountain! I couldn’t really see a difference in my skin imperfections, though. I have some small scars and discolorations on my thighs and didn’t see much of an improvement after applying the lotion. Maybe onlookers would be too dazzled by my shimmering skin to notice them!

Overall I am surprisingly pleased with this lotion. The brighteners weren’t tacky looking, as I expected, and it kept my skin moisturized. I don’t think I would use this as an every day moisturizing product… rather one I would use when I’m planning on showing some skin.

PROS: Keeps skin moisturized for a long time; light & pleasant scent; shimmer is very subtle
CONS: Didn’t quite minimize skin imperfections from what I experienced; the brighteners can build up on your hands while applying.

You can find Bodycology Flawless Glow Luminous Lotion in Sheer Bloom or Sweet Blossom for around $7.97 at Walmart and Walmart.com.

The packaging is just too pretty! I’d wanna buy it just for that lol I’m glad the shimmers once you were in the sun didn’t make you dislike the product. I actually like when a lotion does that too. I find it really cute and complimentary so long as it doesn’t look overdone! 🙂
