My good friend Cindy and I had the chance to attend Shecky’s Girls Night Out in Chicago last night and truly had a blast! Two times each year, in Spring and Fall, Shecky’s holds a fashion and beauty event in Chicago (and several other cities) where women can shop, enjoy a little pampering, drink some complimentary cocktails and generally have a great time.
The Chicago event is held at Union Station downtown (October 4th and 5th, 2011), so we headed in by train to have our fun. We arrived, received our wrist bands for entry and were on our way. We navigated through the crowds to check out the vendors selling amazing jewelry, unique clothing, spa products, cosmetics, and more. I’m not good with buying items on the spot, but Cindy bought a few tops that struck her fancy.
We picked up our Shecky’s Goodie Bags (more on that later) and sampled some wine from Jam Jar (which was excellent). Maybelline, Benefit, and L’oreal Elnett all had studios set up to try their products firsthand. Lines were a bit long for these services, so we stuck to shopping, sampling various cocktails, and enjoying the comraderie.
Towards the end of the evening, we participated in a mixology class sponsored by Cointreau. It was a very short class where we each made our own Cointreau drink and it was super fun!
Remember that Shecky’s Goodie Bag I mentioned earlier? The bags were packed pretty well with lovelies. Take a look at everything that was in my bag:
I think that the best part of the night was mingling, meeting, chatting, and laughing with all the other ladies at the event. It was truly a great Girls Night Out for us, we got to enjoy each other’s company and treat ourselves to a much-needed evening out! Cindy and I will definitely be back to do Shecky’s Girls Night Out in the Spring :).
