Beauty Box 5 for December 2013 – What’s in the box?

Last month, I received my first subscription box from Beauty Box 5 (review and photos here).  Beauty Box 5 is monthly subscription box that delivers 5 deluxe samples of your favorite beauty brands for just $12 a month.   I’m excited to show you what’s in my Beauty Box 5 for December 2013!

Beauty Box 5 December 2013

Every Beauty Flexible Foot Smoother, FULL SIZE, retail $4.99 – Since I love doing home pedicures, this product is a perfect fit for me.  It’s basically a large foot file that looks pretty similar to a kitchen sponge.  It’s really handy and easy to use, love it!

Body Drench Daily Moisturizing Lotion, Sun Splashed Mango, 2 fl. oz – The Body Drench brand is pretty fabulous, the lip balm I received in last month’s box has been getting daily use.  This lotion has a very nice and fresh scent and leaves skin feeling silky and not greasy.

Clean & Clear Morning Burst Hydrating Gel Cleanser, 0.5 oz – This little moisturizer is pretty great for my oily skin.  It’s water based, oil-free and I like it so far!

NYX Sway with Lola SwatchesNYX Cosmetics Love in Rio Eyeshadow Palette, Sway with Lola, FULL SIZE, retail $6.00 – I have not used NYX eyeshadows in a long while.  They were among my favorites several years ago before I moved on to other brands.  This is a really nice palette with good pigmentation and these are shades that I will definitely wear.  This was another great addition to this box!

Ofra Cosmetics Lipgloss Plumper, Sultry, FULL SIZE, retail $12.95 – While I did not detect a minty flavor as suggested, there is quite a tingling sensation while wearing this plumping gloss.  It was a bit uncomfortable for me and the color is not really my style.

Also included in the box is a 25% code to shop Ofra Cosmetics and 20% off NYX Cosmetics.

Overall, I was happy with most of the products in the Beauty Box 5 for December.  The only real miss for me was the lipgloss.  I’d say it’s a good value for a monthly price of $12.00.

Hi Brittnee! I have to agree it was very uncomfortable to wear for me. Is it the color or the feel that you didn’t like?

I received the NYX Love in Rio in Moonlit Skinny Dip, which has a matte beige, glimmery tan/gold and matte very dark chocolate brown. The brown is very dark and deeply pigmented and not for the heavy handed. I like the two lighter colors, though, so I’ll get use of this collection.

I really like the Every Beauty Flexible Foot Smoother. I would not have expected something so soft and squishy to be so effective. I’ve used pumice stones and Sally Hansen metal foot files for years but usually have cracked heels anyway. The foot smoother is easy to use and doesn’t rile up the skin when you smooth it in opposite directions like what happens with a file. I have used it two nights in a row and where I would have expected the skin on my heels to crack, it was hardly cracked at all. After I filed my feet, I used a goodie from this month’s BirchBox – Shea Terra Organics Shea Nilotica East African Shea Butter. Now my tootsies are all nice and smooth. 🙂

I was nervous about trying the Clean & Clear Morning Burst Hydrating Gel Moisturizer because I have a terrible upper and lower respiratory infection and the skin under my nose are chafed and my lips are chapped and I was afraid that it would burn if I used it. But right as I was writing this post, I read through the ingredients and saw that there is dimethicone, which is a skin protectant and cucumber and mango so I moved it up to my nose to smell it but being that I’m highly medicated, my perception is off and I ended up with a big blob of moisturizer on the tip of my nose. And, big surprise, it didn’t hurt. I’m impressed. So many other moisturizers and lotions that I’d tried this week have stung so I’ve had to wash them off. I like that this one is in gel form as it feels more like a serum than a lotion. I wonder if it will have similar properties as a serum and hold moisture in better.

The Body Drench Daily Moisturizing Lotion that I received is Sugar Cane. I haven’t tried it yet. I tried to smell it but it is either lightly scented or I have lost my sense of smell because of my cold. I’ll more than likely keep this in my purse to use on the go.

The Ofra Lipgloss Plumper shade that I received is Sultry. I rather liked the color as I have always preferred darker lip color. I’ve been getting a lot of pinks and nudes in beauty boxes so I’m excited to see a shade that I will actually wear. I can see by your coloring that it might be too harsh a color for you. You have such a lovely complexion and hair color and look like a winter. I think I’m an autumn.

Hi Dianne! I want to thank you so much for such a detailed and informative comment! I really like the sound of your NYX palette and the Shea Terra product you mentioned. I know what you mean with the lipglosses it seems like they always want to go with a nude gloss in subscription boxes. Thank you SO much for compliment on my complexion and hair color I appreciate that so much! It’s not often people take the time to leave such nice comments and you taking time out of your day to do so really brings a smile to my face :). I will be looking up the info on being a winter or autumn, you have me intrigued!

Yes I think it’s really nice for the price with brands that I enjoy!
