Go Glam or Innocent with Milani

Milani Matte Lipsticks Review

Milani has recently released 8 new Moisture Matte Color Statement Lipsticks and 3 gorgeous Rose Powder Blushes. I have a few selections to show you today and you just might be as surprised as I was with the outcome…read on!

Milani Matte Lipstick and Blush

The all new Moisture Matte Lipsticks are infused with grape seed extract and vitamins A & C to help keep lips soft and hydrated. There formula is designed to be budge and smudge proof and I found that to be pretty accurate. I got about an average of 4-5 hours of wear time with light eating and drinking in-between. Since they are matte, the finish is slightly on the dry side but they still feel somewhat creamy if you rub your lips together. This is my first time trying any Milani lipstick, but I’ve heard from other bloggers that there is no longer that Melon scent that Milani lipsticks used to have and many people didn’t like. These have a light vanilla scent that I personally think smells very good. I am also dying to try the Matte Orchid and Matte Confident shades!

  • Matte Innocence is described as a “soft whisper of pink nude.” Nudes usually aren’t my thing, but if I do use them I definitely like them to be on the darker side. This seemed just a little too light for my skintone. Also, because it’s so light, I found that it easily highlighted any dry lip spots that I had and sunk into my lip lines. A good lip exfoliation beforehand might help with that issue.
  • Matte Glam is described as a “Yummy, grape Italian Ice purple.” I have to admit, when I first saw this shade I was like “Um, no way this is going to look good on me!” Well, I really ate my words because I actually really like this shade. A LOT! This color seemed slightly more creamy and didn’t highlight dry areas all that much. It wore well for 5 hrs and left a light purple stain behind. If you like bold lipsticks but you already have so many reds/pinks/berry’s I would suggest you try something like this! I have also heard around the blog-o-sphere that this has been compared to MAC’s Heroine lipstick.

Milani Matte Innocence, Glam and Coral Cove Swatches

Next up is the new Rose Powder Blush. These matte-finish blushes have real rose petals that are crushed and micro-milled into the powder! This helps to deliver a soft streak-free finish.

  • Coral Cove is described as a Poppy Coral, a vibrant warm shade that looks like it will be perfect in the summer! I found the blush formula to be very pigmented and smooth. It is very low on the powdery scale which is nice, and it really blended like a dream. Seriously, a little bit goes a long way so don’t overdo it or you will end up looking look like a clown! I used a good amount in my photo in order to show the color, but you can definitely use a lighter hand to achieve a more subtle look.

Wearing Milani Matte Innocence and Matte Glam Lipstick

So, I already make some bold makeup choices, but I learned today that going outside of my comfort zone proved to be a positive experience. I can’t believe how much I like Matte Glam! When it comes to makeup or even life in general, just take a chance…you might be pleasantly surprised! Milani Matte Lipsticks start at $5.99 and the Rose Blushes start at $7.99, both can be found at CVS. As always, Milani is certified cruelty free!
