How to Get Red Carpet Ready - My Highest Self

How to Get Red Carpet Ready

With the Oscars coming up on Sunday, watching E! Live from the Red Carpet will be on my agenda for sure.  I can never get enough of seeing what the celebrities will be wearing as well as their makeup nail looks.  You might even say that I enjoy the red carpet action more than the actual awards ceremony!  Going to a red carpet event can be a bit stressful and does require some preparation to go smoothly.  Even if you are not going down an actual red carpet we all have red carpet moments like weddings, parties, vacations, and other special events.  We certainly want to look our absolute best on those special days, right?  I typically plan out everything I need to do to prepare for my big event.  If you have a “red carpet moment” coming up, my plan may help you out!

How to Get Red Carpet Ready

Crest 3D Whitestrips to Get Red Carpet Ready

Two weeks before your event you should make sure you are prepared with your outfit, proper shapewear, shoes, handbag, jewelry, and makeup.  You don’t want to be looking for the perfect dress days before your event.  That will just create unnecessary stress.  Keep in mind the right shapewear can make or break your look, so take that into careful consideration early on.  Next, start preparing your smile with Crest 3D White Supreme Flexfit Whitestrips.  Don’t let less-than-white teeth keep you from looking your best.  The Flexfit technology allows Whitestrips to mold to custom fit your teeth for the best application.  Let Crest 3D White Supreme Flexfit Whitestrips be your secret weapon to get that stunning celebrity smile!  Adding these to your beauty routine just one hour a day, you’ll be able to #StrikeASmile with the utmost confidence.  This would also be the time to start your gradual self-tanners if you are looking to add a sexy glow to your skin.  A nice tan is always a great complement to pearly white teeth!

getting ready for an event

One week before your event is the time I recommend getting any hair cuts and/or hair color needed to refresh your look.  Trust me when I tell you that the day before your event is NOT the time to change up your hair.  If something goes wrong, there will be no time for quick fixes.  A bad hair day during an important event can ruin your whole night!  This is also the time I would do a good exfoliating treatment on the face and body.  I love the products from Kate Somerville (face) and H2O Plus (body).  Smooth skin will make for better makeup, tanner, and moisturizer application.

Three days before your event might be a good time to go in for your spray tan if that’s what you prefer.  If you are an experienced tanner, you may certainly feel comfortable going in the day before. I would do a nice facial mask in the morning before tanning, something that would clear the pores and dry out any pimples that may be brewing under the surface.  I try to do all I can to prevent that dreaded breakout the day of a major event.

The night before your event is the time to do your last-minute beauty preparation like shaving, doing manicures, pedicures, gentle skincare, and another facial mask (this time something to hydrate the skin).  My goal is to try and do as much of my preparation well before the day of a red carpet event.  The less you have to do the less you fret!  I also like to lay out all my clothes, shoes, and accessories to make sure everything is in order.

easy makeup for a wedding

The day of the event should be all about relaxing and getting ready to have some FUN!  All that is left to do is get dressed, style your hair, and put on your makeup.  All the rest has been done way ahead of time.  I like to go with no-fuss makeup for a big event:  BB cream, easy-to-work-with eyeshadows, long-lasting mascara, and a bright red lip.  Now you should be ready to strut in your best dress, red lips, sparkly nails and flashing that red-carpet smile.  You don’t have to be an A-list celebrity to have the best smile with the help of Crest 3D White Supreme Flexfit Whitestrips!

Don’t forget to watch E! Live from the Red Carpet on Sunday, February 22, sponsored by Crest 3D White Supreme Flexfit Whitestrips.

I like how you suggest to prep for a big event over time with these easy tips- whitening is not something I think of the be instant but Crest white strips seem to have it down to easy and breezy! I’ll have to remember these tips the next time I attend a red carpet premiere!

I love how you do this in a timeline. All too often women get their haircut, or colored right before a big event, date, etc.
Also I saw a lot of great cosmetics in your post, a few are my personal favorites!
    Great solid advice!
