Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss - Sugar Violet vs NYX Glam Lip Gloss Aqua Luxe - Velvet Ropes - My Highest Self

Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss – Sugar Violet vs NYX Glam Lip Gloss Aqua Luxe – Velvet Ropes

A long while ago I made a couple of lip gloss purchases on separate occasions and then noticed that the two looked incredibly similar.  I’m drawn to purple/fuchsia sparkle, what can I say?  I am comparing Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss in Sugar Violet with NYX Glam Lip Gloss Aqua Luxe in Velvet Ropes.

First up is Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss in Sugar Violet.  It looks so pretty!

Wearing Revlon Lip Gloss - Sugar Violet

I can’t say I love the taste of the Revlon gloss, it has a bit of a chemical scent/taste for me.  I do like the feel of it, very smooth, not sticky.  I also can’t say I like how it looks worn alone on the lips either.  Not too thrilling.

However…Sugar Violet really pumps up my favorite lipstick, Fuchsianista from the Wet n Wild Fergie line!!  Take a look:

Revlon’s Sugar Violet takes an already AWESOME lipstick and puts it over the top!

Next up is NYX Glam Lip Gloss Aqua Luxe in Velvet Ropes.  Oh, the sparkly fuchsia!

Wearing NYX Velvet Ropes

The NYX gloss has no scent or taste that I can detect, which is ok (better than a bad scent/taste).  Again, wearing this gloss alone is nothing special.  I really like the feel of this gloss though, it’s extremely buttery and slick and not sticky.

You can see here that when swatched both Sugar Violet and Velvet Ropes look very similar:

NYX vs Revlon Gloss

Overall, I would say these two are so much alike that you would not need both.  They swatch very similar and the feel is almost the same, too.  I would say grab the NYX gloss because I like the flexible doe foot applicator better AND you get basically double the amount of product (NYX is .24 fl oz / Revlon is .13 fl oz).

Find NYX Glam Lip Gloss Aqua Luxe at NYXCosmetics.com and Target, $6.

Find Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss at Target, Walmart, and more $6 – $8.

What do you think of these glosses, either of interest?

I am not a fan of NYX glosses. I have tried several different ones and they have all been a bit meh for me. I love the Revlon Super Lustrous line, tho. Maybe I need to try the Aqua Luxe glosses. 🙂 Never know… 🙂

I’m that way with nail polish – so many that are similar! I love the layered look with that gloss – it looks great on you.

I think the NYX one had a bit more of a pink tint on your lips than the Revlon. I really love NYX, I’d gravitate towards it anyway LOL. Fuchsianista looks AWESOME on you, you rock that lip!!!

Loving the NYX color. evlon isn’t doing it for me and I can’t stand chemical tasting lip products.

I love the NYX Glam glosses for the formula. How similar these are though! The picture of both the lipstick and gloss is ‘wow’!! You have such gorgeous skin too!
