Swatch & Review: New! Sally Hansen Lustre Shine Nail Color – Lava

To say that I was excited when I saw this post from Nouveau Cheap is an understatment!  The new Sally Hansen Lustre Shine Nail Color looked so gorgeous to me.  I was on the hunt for these!

I found these at Walgreens for $8.49 each.  I thought that was a pretty steep price so I picked up just ONE to give it a try.

I was most drawn to Lava at the time, let’s take a look:

First of all, I LOVE the bottle, I think it’s unique and very pretty to look at at.  Second, these drugstore nail polish continue to get smaller and higher in price!  This one is just .33 fl oz, even smaller than the new L’oreal line, at an even higher price.

I’m not sure what you would call this, a linear holographic polish??  I’m not an expert but it sure looks like a linear holographic color to me!

See the photo below looks like a pink line and a yellow/orange line of color:

Lava is filled with micro-micro particles of color.  It made me think of eyeshadow pigment put into a nail color base.  There are no chunks or raised pieces of glitter.  It makes for a very smooth application, I used 3 coats for good coverage.

I took so many pictures because…I LOVE THIS NAIL COLOR!

FYI:  It looks exactly like this in person!  Gorgeous and color changing and I can’t stop looking at my nails :).

Overall, as I said, I love Lava!  I’m still deciding if I want to spend $8.50 on more of these.  They are so unique though!

What would you do??

Guess what – I just got a bargain on these. I was at Meijer and I ran over to the opposite side of the store (sort of like a Walmart) for a yellow polish for a project. And they were there in the back. The sign said $5.99 which was excellent. I went to a self scan machine with two shades and didn’t realize til I got home that they were BOGO 1/2 on the second. So $12 – $3 = $9 for both!!!! I bought Lava and Firefly. I’d love to go back for more now.

Wow, what an awesome deal!! I wish my Meijer was a wee bit closer. I may stop in to the one near my sister since I’ll be out her way this weekend. It would be worth the stop!

I have never spent more than $10 on a nail polish (I think), I try to be good! They do have that new Balance Rewards points program at Walgreen now. I signed up and they had all kinds of points deals, a nice one for Revlon: spend $25 get 5,000 points. I hope they have a Sally Hansen points deal coming up!

I haven’t seen these polishes yet but they look awesome! Will definitely have to snatch one up to try!

Hi Cait! The display is so drool-worthy, I still want to go back and try another!

I would call that a glitter duochrome. It’s definitely not holographic.

This is so pretty I would probably buy at least once. I would hope to find a coupon I could use towards the price but if not, this looks like something I would splurge on.

Hi Carol, I know I wish I had a coupon right now. I’ll bet by the time I get a coupon these will be gone!

Very pretty but yes almost $9 for nail polish is a bit too high for me. I’ll have to wait for a friend to buy and then borrow 😉

Sounds like a plan! I’m debating on buying one more but can’t decide for sure.
