New! Betty Crocker Mac and Cheese

Are you ready for the new mac and cheese in town?  Betty Crocker Mac and Cheese has arrived and is prepared with a simpler method than the “old way”!

We make a lot of mac and cheese around here, our kids love it!  We were excited to try new Betty Crocker Mac and Cheese, Original Flavor.  I’ll admit it was so strange putting the noodles, sauce mix, milk, butter, and water all together to cook.  I was skeptical for sure.  After about 15 minutes, it was ready to eat with no straining or mixing left to do.

What I loved about Betty Crocker Mac and Cheese was that the noodles were fluffy and premium-tasting.  I also loved the easier method of prep, way more convenient.  What I didn’t love was that the cheese tasted a little….well…powdery.  The second thing I didn’t love was that the box is smaller in ounces (5.6 oz) than other mac and cheese brands.  I’ll be interested in seeing the price points of Betty Crocker vs. other brands.

Overall, I loved the premium macaroni noodles in Betty Crocker Mac and Cheese but hope that the cheese flavor is improved. I also hope that the price is lower than other brands due to its smaller size.  I would like to try the other varieties, Grilled Cheese and Cheese Pizza, they both sound interesting!

Disclosure:  The information and product have been provided free of charge by Betty Crocker and General Mills through MyInsite.  All opinions expressed are my own.

I’m not sure if Betty Crocker Mac and Cheese is in stores yet, have you seen it?

This is awful!!! Way too soupy. I did make it the tradional way also. Consistancy was better, but the cheese taste is very strange! Both girls I care for will not eat it!

The cheese pizza flavor is excellent. As said in the article, the noodles are great, but the cheese does taste a bit powdery. I like the creamy texture this brand has compared to others. Makes the food taste more homemade, if you will. I’d give this 8 stars compared to maybe 6-7 with other brands.

Terrible. No cheese flavor at all. The noodles look rather suspect right out of the box also. Back to the drawing board.

    I’m eating this right now.

    PROS:
    Only one pot
    Creamy sauce

    CONS:
Have to babysit the pot while cooking and stir frequently, otherwise the pasta sticks
    Too much sauce
Poor flavor. Like, really, really bad. It’s bland, and somehow, it has a faint almond-y aftertaste

    VERDICT:
Won’t try it again. Stick with classic mac and cheeses, or make your own. This one’s a flop.

We’ve had the product here in the Cleveland area for a couple of months. But now I’m having a hard time finding it in the stores. Was is a trial? The grilled cheese variety was the best. And, yes, it is better than Kraft (the blue box).

Hi Susan, I don’t think it was a trial I still see it at my Walmart but not sure? Maybe they are pulling it to revamp the formula (I hope)!

this mac a cheese is awesome and my kids love it . It is very simple to do since you cook everything in the pot all at once . you are done in 15 mins .

I also made it again and added some ground beef and enchilada sauce to it and made a meal and the kids tore it up .

great product and i will continue buying it .

My kids are eating “Orginal Cheese” flavor right now. They don’t like it. Luckily, we have popcorn cheese seasoning, sprinkled some on, much improved. We followed the directions on the box. The pasta is ok, but not as good as Kraft, IMO. The sauce flavor is boring and texture is grainy, which I didn’t think would happen as it is cooked for so long. I won’t be buying this again.

Do not buy this mac and cheese, it taste bad ,kids would not eat it and they tryed putting ketchup on it and didn,t even help . We through it out. Also it takes longer and more care to make than Krafts mac and cheese. It was a promo at where we shop and I was going to buy a case to donate to our Lions Clubs food bank, I’m glad I didn’t do that.
